The "Shining Spirit" documentary is a finalist at the 2009 Banff Mountain Film Festival

JAMYANG YESHI has had a busy few years of performing, recording & filming since arriving in Canada in 2005. The Tara Café Project has released two CDs of Jamyang’s music
, The Karma of Snowland (with Gompo Dhundup, 2006) and Shining Spirit: A Tibetan Family’s Reunion Through Music (2007). A documentary film featuring Jamyang, and his family in Tibet, was released in September 2009.
Jamyang has performed at the Banff Centre’s Eric Harvie Theatre, in an opening night performance with Gompo Dhundup for the “Cultures at Risk” Summit as well as many other venues in Banff, including the Wildflour Bakery/Café . He has performed at the Roundhouse in Vancouver, B.C. and in 2008 he was invited to Portland, Oregon, to sing at a Tibetan cultural event. In May 2009, Jamyang spent a month touring in Hungary at the invitation of the Budapest Shambhala Centre.
Jamyang and friends will be back in the recording studio again later this year to produce a Tibetan/Western fusion CD. And watch for news on screenings of the documentary film, “Shining Spirit,” this fall.
